The Vessel
Lumina · The Vessel

The Vessel.

A floating sanctuary, composed in travertine and light.

The Idea

A counterpoint to the gilded cliché.

Lumina was drawn against everything the river had become. No gold leaf, no spectacle — instead, hand-troweled plaster, fluted alabaster, woven linen and warm walnut, lit so that the Nile itself becomes the décor.

Ancient Egypt is present, but whispered: a fragment of a Theban fresco framed like a museum piece, columns that fan open like papyrus, the soft geometry of a temple distilled into a single room.

Twenty-eight suites and cabins, each opening to the river through full-height glass, each finished by the hands of Khalifa Architects and Vanessa Victor Design House. What remains is calm — a vessel that asks only that you watch the bank slide by.

The dining room beneath papyrus columns
01 — Architecture

Columns that bloom like papyrus.

The main salon rises into a sculpted ceiling — a hypostyle hall reimagined in plaster and light, where every column flowers toward the deckhead like the reed forests of the ancient Nile.

The lounge with a hand-painted Egyptian screen
02 — Craft

A hand-painted offering scene.

In the lounge, a Theban fresco is reproduced by hand across a folding screen — dusk-rose pigment, gilded detail, the gods of the river keeping watch over the evening.

Travertine and onyx detail
03 — Material

Travertine, walnut, alabaster.

A restrained palette drawn from the desert itself — warm stone, dark wood and lamp-lit alabaster — chosen so the changing light of the river is always the brightest thing in the room.
