Practical information.
The season, the packing, the paperwork — so that once aboard, nothing is left to think about.
Everything you need to arrive prepared — the season, the packing, the paperwork — so that once aboard, there is nothing left to think about but the river.
The best season
October through April is the ideal window — warm, clear days and cool evenings perfect for the temples and the deck. Summer (May–September) is hotter, but the ship is fully air-conditioned and excursions begin early to beat the heat.
Shoulder months — October to November and March to April — offer the finest balance of weather, quiet sites and value.

Arranged before you fly
Most nationalities require a tourist visa for Egypt, available as an e-visa online before travel or on arrival at the airport. Requirements vary by country.
When you book, we will point you to the official guidance for your nationality and help time everything around your flights.
A few simple precautions
No special vaccinations are required for most travellers, but check with your own doctor before you fly. Bring any personal medication in your hand luggage.
The ship carries first-aid provisions and 24-hour reception, with a doctor on call for many departures and hospital transfer arranged in any emergency.
Cash, cards and gratuities
The Egyptian Pound is the local currency; major cards are accepted in towns and aboard. Carry a little cash for bazaars and small purchases ashore.
Gratuities for the crew and your guide are customary and always appreciated — we are happy to advise on what is usual.
Sailing by season.
